ProTips provide many advantages over conventional analytical column/spray tip systems for biomolecule analysis. Direct packing of the chromatographic resin into the spray tip eliminates band broadening as the peptides are electrosprayed immediately after elution. Additionally, the ProTip design improves through-column solvent flow by minimizing the backpressure normally associated with frits in commercial and lab-built capillary columns. The ProTip configuration also dramatically reduces tip-clogging events and extends column life.
