Get high quality mass spectrometry data on your gel samples – STAT

gelSTAT services let you obtain peptide mass fingerprinting and LC-MALDI mass spectrometry data within seven days*, including a complete data report. MS data is generated using our ABI 4800 MALDI TOF/TOF mass spectrometry.

BENEFITS OF USING gelSTAT SERVICES:

  • Complete data reports are provided with all gelSTAT services
  • Sample Transport Kits, including destaining reagents, are provided without charge
  • Shipping charges for sending your samples to Protea are prepaid by us (via FedEx)
  • You will receive electronic notifications when your samples are received, and when your data reports are available for download by your laboratory.
  • Mass Spectrometric data is generated using ABI’s 4800 MALDI TOF/TOF and nano-flow LC-MALDI spotter.
*Results (summary report and data files) will normally be provided within five working days.

We utilize an integrated approach to services, focusing on both upstream sample preparation and downstream mass spectrometric analysis. All of our service work is conducted on site in our Protein Research Laboratory. Our secure facility features HEPA-filtered air and a climate-controlled environment.

Our protein mass spectrometrists are highly experienced with the newest technologies, including ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), nano-flow LC MALDI spotting, gel electroelution of proteins, and BIOiTRAQ comparative analyses. For high throughput protein identification, MascotTM search engine is used for peptide mass fingerprinting in which protein samples of interest are enzymatically digested, desalted and analzed by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The peptide mass fingerprint from the spectrum (example shown in Figure 1A is compared to “virtual” fingerprints obtained by theoretical cleavage of protein sequences stored in databases, and high scoring peptides are reported as possible candidates. Protein PilotTM and SequestTM search engines are used to analyze LC-MALDI MS/MS and LC-ESI-MS data respecively. Our clients receive the benefits of our strong core competencies in protein biochemistry and analytical chemistry and of our commitment to improving existing sample preparation technologies.

Protea is unique as a service provider, because of our leadership in the development of improved sample preparation methodologies for both gel- and solution-based samples. Solution-based proteomics streamlines sample preparation and analysis, resulting in minimized sample loss and contamination. We can employ new robust and reproducible sample preparation procedures.
