Silver Stain Kit XL - Nov. 12, 2007

Protea Silver Stain formulation is unique in that the staining process can be completed in about 40 minutes (including the fixing step for 15 min) and without sacrificing sensitivity of detection. In addition, the silver stain kit is compatible with MALDI analysis, especially when used in conjunction with the Sliver Destaining reagent.

Protea’s new Silver Stain XL is a cost-effective and convenient way to obtain our same Silver Stain formulation in bulk packaging, reducing unit costs and the frequency of ordering.

C18 ProteaTips™ Sample Prep Kit, 10-200µL - Nov. 12, 2007

The C18 ProteaTips Sample Prep Kit contains tips and reagents for reversed phase solid phase extraction of peptide samples for Electrospray or MALDI mass spectrometry. The kit is effective in concentrating and desalting peptides from protein digests resulting in mass spectra with better S/N and reduced salt adducts. The SP-129 kit contains C18 ProteaTips for 10-200 µL volumes, 25 mL sample reconstitution and rinse solution, 25 mL equilibration solution, and 25 mL elution solution. The C18 beads are immobilized on the inner surface of a pipette tip providing a large surface area for sample capture.

New protein research services:

gelSTAT - Services from Protea

MORGANTOWN, W. Va., March 6, 2008, 9:00am -- Protea Biosciences, Inc., a leader in the development of new protein processing technology, today announced its launch of a new service for rapid protein identification. Known as “gelSTAT”, the new service provides complete results within 5 working days, unprecedented turnaround time for protein mass spectrometry analysis.

“Our new gelSTAT service is for researchers who need their Mass Spec data ‘STAT’ – within days. This often occurs, when a researcher is nearing a project or publication deadline, for example. Our gelSTAT service is for active researchers such as these,” stated Stephen Turner, Protea’s CEO. “We utilize the very latest mass spectrometers which, when combined with our own advanced protein sample processing techniques, generate the highest quality protein identification data, rapidly and reproducibly,”

Protea provides a number of free amenities as part of its gelSTAT service, including gel sample transport kits, destaining reagents, and prepaid sample shipment to the company. Both peptide mass fingerprinting and LC-MALDI analysis is available.

Protea maintains a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry facility, featuring BIOiTRAQ MALDI TOF/TOF, and linear trapping quadrupole (LTQ) mass spectrometers, with the mission to generate the very best Mass Spec data from a researcher’s valuable protein samples, either in their laboratory or at the company.

Protea is unique as a service provider, because of its leadership in the development of improved sample preparation techniques, which streamline sample preparation and analysis, resulting in minimized sample loss and contamination.

Protea Biosciences, Inc. (www.proteabio.com) develops new products and services for improved protein mass spectrometry data, to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic research laboratories.

de novo sequencing

For difficult and unique protein samples, we now offer de novo sequencing capabilities, for improved identification and characterization of peptides using PEAKS Studio algorithms.

ITRAQ

For improved quantitative and differential analysis of related samples, our Protein Research Laboratory now offers iTRAQ labeling with LC-MALDI TOF-TOF analysis on our Applied Biosystems 4800 mass spectrometer. ITRAQ is leading the revolution in the study of up- and down- regulation of target biomarkers in differential protein analysis of major diseases such as cancer, osteoarthritis, and dementia.
